trying to update.

I'm having trouble keeping up with this thing, huh? Well, as you saw in my last blog post, I did a review for BookSneeze.com. I have another book coming in that I will also do a review for...and keep going from there. It's pretty cool. If you have a blog, you can get free books to review from http://www.booksneeze.com/. You should check it out.

We are in the process of moving. We are still searching for the exact place we are moving to, but I have begun packing. It's such a pain. I hate to pack and unpack.

I also just lowered the prices on a bunch of things in my Etsy shop. Check it out! http://www.itsmydesign87.etsy.com/

Sorry for the jump-around post!

Read and Share: The Jesus Series, Life and Miracles [BookSneeze Review]

I received this book free from Thomas Nelson Publishers as part of their BookSneeze.com book review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255 : “Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising.”

I recently watched the Read and Share DVD: The Jesus Series, Life and Miracles with my 4-year old.

The Jesus Series, Life and Miracles is a half-hour dvd that introduces children to the story of Jesus Christ. It is recommended for all ages and family-approved. The dvd covers eight stories about Jesus' life and the miracles that he performed. Also, if you insert the dvd into a computer, you are able to print out coloring pages and such.

While the animations and characters in this dvd are cute, the narration of the dvd is a tad bit annoying. Life and Miracles is a good starter dvd for young children whom you are trying to get interested in Bible stories and, but it is not completely biblically accurate and the stories get a little confusing because they jump around too much within the short 30-minute timeframe of the movie. Overall, I would recommend to parents/caregivers who are trying to get children interested in the spiritual messages that biblical stories carry.

Ego.

When I first started selling booster seat covers on Etsy, I had searched around to see if anybody else made them on there and I didn't find a single seller that made booster seat covers. Today, over a year after I started selling the covers on Etsy, I did a new search. I was amazed at how many other sellers I saw that had listings for booster seat covers, and patterns for covers.

Call it my ego, but none of them looked as good as mine do :)

...and cue some examples.

Makeover coming...

Hi everyone, I am currently in the process of attempting to makeover my blog. AND I'm hoping that I start utilizing it more.

Bear with me. (or is it bare with me?) haha. I don't know, but you know what I mean :)

Memory Bears

This is the start of a new project...Memory Bears.
I can make them out of basically any fabric, but to be more of sentimental value, they can be made from:
-the clothing or something sentimental of a loved one who passed away
-baby clothes/blankets
-wedding dress/tux/other attire
-sports uniforms
-anything that is of sentimental value...

If its made from something of special value, you will be able to hold the memory forever ♥

In order to make these, you would need to contact me, and we would set up a listing through my Etsy shop. From there, you would need to ship the clothing/items to me at your expense [I suggest getting delivery confirmation and/or insurance for your package, as these items are irreplaceable in most cases!].

Each bear is approx 12 inches tall in sitting position, and 18 inches from head to toe. You can have bows added in their hair, neck ties, etc - all made from the things that you send with your bear.

I will use the items you send to me to make a bear for you, and send the extras/leftovers back to you with your bear. In most cases, I am able to embroider a name or initials or date [for whomever/whichever date the memory bear is for, perhaps] on the bears foot or chest area.

Each bear is $20, free shipping back to you for USA residents.

Michael Jackson T-shirt transformation

I bought a men's t-shirt size 2xl with Michael Jackson on it. Mind you, I am a size sm/med in jrs/womens...But I bought the shirt b/c I liked it and it was on clearance, and I had a plan for it. My plan was to make it into something I could wear. And that's what I did....I made it into a dress.

I wanted to kind of give it a little MJ flair as well, so I took some leftover fabric that I had from making the jacket to a Michael Jackson costume for a friend of mine [its shown in this post], and I used it to make embellishments. Since it was a T-shirt for This Is It, I also embroidered the opening lyrics to the song entitled 'This Is It' along the bottom of the dress. It reads, "This is it. Here I stand. I'm the light of the world, I feel grand........" and then it says "RIP Michael Jackson 1958-2009". On the upper back of the dress, there is a small white heart embroidered, and under it, a sequined glove. Yes, the glove is in black sequins instead of white, because black fit in more with my theme.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out...and you can bet I will make more in the future :]
